Traveler's Cardigan - Knitting Pattern

The Traveler's Cardigan is worked from the top down and is closed in the front with buttons. It features back shaping and dropped shoulders for a relaxed fit. The sleeves are designed to be loose and finished with a balloon cuff. The button band is worked simultaneously with the body which means less finishing work. A classic design meant for everyday wear.

Finished Bust Circumference - 35 (39) 42 (47) 51 (55) 57 (61) 65" [89 (99) 107 (119) 130 (140) 145 (155) 165 cm]

Gauge - 15 sts and 24 rows = 4 x 4" [10 x 10 cm] in stockinette st, both flat and in the round on larger needles, blocked

Needle Size -
6 mm (US Size 10) 16" and 32-40", or the required needles to obtain gauge (main needles - used for body and sleeves)
5 mm (US Size 8) double-pointed needles, or two sizes down from main needles (used for button band)
5 mm (US Size 8) 16" and 32-40", or two sizes down from main needles (used for hem, collar, and cuffs)

Suggested Yarn - Wooldreamers Manchelopis (100% wool, 100 g = 253 yds) in colorway Blue, 3 (3) 3 (4) 4 (5) 5 (6) 6 plates
Note: Manchelopis comes double-stranded in one plate. They are knit as presented in order to achieve aran weight*. If using other unspun yarn, you will need to double the strands and consider this when figuring the amount of plates needed

Buttons - 5 (5) 5 (5) 5 (6) 6 (6) 6 measuring 3⁄4" or 20 mm (mother of pearl buttons were used for sample)

Notions - 7 stitch markers (5 should be removable), scrap yarn or extra cables, tapestry needle, row counter, thread or spare yarn for attaching buttons

Techniques - Knitting flat, knitting in the round, long-tail cast-on, knitted cast-on, backwards loop cast-on, increasing, decreasing, German Short Rows, holding stitches, picking up stitches, buttonholes, sewn tubular bind off, wet blocking
